Editing

I am a recent graduate of Loyola Marymount University, holding a degree in English. In fall 2021, I managed to a secure a position in Professor Evelyn McDonnell’s Music Criticism course for upper-division students as a sophomore. This experience was the catalyst to a fruitful professional relationship with Professor McDonnell, as I assisted in bringing her 2023 book, The World According to Joan Didion, to print. (That’s her and I in the header photo, at a release event for the book.)

I spent the summer of 2022 performing research for the biography, and fact-checked the draft in its entirety before final publication. The attention to detail required for this process was a perfect way to hone my copyediting skills while ensuring McDonnell’s text was error-free.

Serving as her research assistant also provided the opportunity to gather data illustrating the questionable induction practices of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. These practices are discussed in this blog post for her website, which I wrote.

More recently, I have performed editing work for Kerosene, an online music ‘zine started by my friend Abbie Harris.
